LAURA
Laura Padilla grew up in the Chicago Heights, IL area where she still resides. Growing up in a traditional Mexican home Laura was surrounded by church hymns and folkloric music. Performing thisLa music during family gatherings Laura's parents soon realized that their daughter had a special gift.
In junior high school, Laura joined her church choir and then the Marian Catholic High School choir, whom she sang with for 4 years. Laura knew that she wanted something bigger and being greatly influenced by the freestyle genre she found it.
While in high school, at the age of 16, Laura was introduced to Troy Guy and began performing with him his freestyle classic duet "Forever Amor". At this time Laura met producer, Carlos Mojica of Mirage Studio in Joliet, IL. In 1997, Laura recorded "Only In My Dreams" topping the freestyle charts nationwide in the Dance Music Authority magazine for August 1998. From 1996 to 2002 Laura was the lead singer for top Latino cover band from Joliet, IL, Grupo Karizma, led by producer Carlos Mojica.
Laura took time off from her singing to have a family and now with her children older she is now ready to finish what she started years ago. Back in the recording studio and working together again with Carlos Mojica, Laura has recorded a new song "Make Up Your Mind", produced and written by Carlos Mojica, and began performing again. More recently she has been working with promoter Jap, Inc. and Tim "Spinnin" Schommer for upcoming shows.
Not satisfied with limiting herself to singing only freestyle music, Laura, with her sheer determination and her fierce voice is looking to broaden her range in the music industry.
